A typical setup would be to use Ableton Live in Host mode, and use Propellerhead Reason as a synthesizer. So the simple answer is yes it works, but it runs much better in other DAWs b/c of the aforementioned reasons. A Panel is a graphical interface for setting the parameters of one Device. Hopefully all of this gets better over time.
However if you run Maschine plus a bunch of other VSTs in Reason you could run in to problems quickly. Map samples to keyboard by note and velocity. Powerful 64-bit sound shaping with 24dB multimode resonant filters. If your CPU is up to it therefore this thing is 512 voice polyphonic. (Pro Tools First is not supported) Cakewalk by Bandlab Propellerhead Reason 9.5 or later. 16 way multi-timbral, each timbre has its 32 note polyphony. Gross Beat stores audio in a 2-bar rolling buffer controlled by 36 time and 36 volume mapping envelopes for easy beat-synced glitch, stutter, repeat, scratching and gating effects. If you're just running Maschine + internal Reason devices you should be alright. Enhance your drums, beats, and loops in seconds (VST/AU/AAX). Play with time Gross Beat is a real-time, audio-stream playback, pitch, position and volume manipulation effect. Maschine is a CPU hog already so keep that in mind. I'd say its 4x to 5x worse than other DAWs at the moment. There are many, many threads about this over at the Reasontalk forums. So if you want to route all 16 Maschine outputs for a group to Reason's SSL mixer you'll need to workaround.ģ) Reason 10 currently has HORRIBLE VST performance.
For standard usage Maschine and/or simple DAW routing it's fine but for more custom DAW routing could be a problem.Ģ) VSTs in Reason only support 8 stereo outs to the host. RECYCLE 2.0 (propellerhead)-SOUNDFORGE 7 (sony)-FL STUDIO 9 (image-line)-ADOBE AUDITION 3 (adobe)-MELODYNE (celemony)-ADDICTIVE DRUMS 1.5.1 (xln audio)-IZOTOPE RX3 standalone-SLICEX vst-PEDALS vst-DBGLITCH vst-EDISON vst-FLEXFILTERBANK 2 vst-HARDCORE vst. Couple of gotchas to watch out for.ġ) Reason doesn't support multitimbral VSTs, so that means you can only send a single channel of midi (ie CH1) to the Maschine plugin.
